House, part of rear of No.17 linked to former lean-to service block against wall of New Prison (qv). c1790 (OS says post 1830).
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar with pantile roof to street, and rubble with slate roof to rear, painted to ground floor.
PLAN: Irregular plan.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys to service block, three storeys and attic to rear of No.17. Single-window range to each part. Service block has plate glass sash window to centre of first floor, above C20 planked door flanked by two-light casement window to left and small square window to right. Right hand corner canted with planked door. Rear has single window to left of each upper floor and door below, right return in Henrietta Place has single window to each floor. All windows are plain sashes. Double plain sash flat topped dormer to rear wall. Mansard roof.
INTERIOR: Not inspected. Circa 1800 small two storey painted ashlar cottage at right angles to No.17, with lean-to pantile roof up to rear wall. Two irregularly spaced windows, plain door. Included for group interest. Nos 4 to 17 (consec) and Ivy Cottage form a group.
