Description

18th century. Single storey range of 3, 3-bay cottages, one

raised to 2-storey circa 1800, now one property.

Red sandstone rubble with coursed, squared rubble to 1st

floor section.

N ELEVATION: 3-bay house to centre with central consoled slab

porch to doorway at centre, flanked by windows; 3, 1st floor

windows above ashlar band course. Lower eaves to 3 single

storey bays to outer left, with door at centre, flanked by

windows and with quoins remaining from earlier house,

intercepting to right; 3 single storey bays to outer right

detailed similarly but with slightly higher eaves line and

pilastered door surround with rounded angles to lintel.

Boarded doors. Single storey outbuilding to outer right with

small window to left and acute angle to right.

S ELEVATION: semi-circular stairwell to centre of 2-storey

house with catslide roof; dilapidated modern porch set in

re-entrant angle to right; windows in flanking bays to ground

and 1st floors. Single storey cottages to right and left,

slightly recessed, with narrow covered projection from right

cottage; door and window to left cottage.

Variety of glazing pattern, with 12-pane and 4-pane glazing predominating in sash and case windows. Gable end stacks to

central cottages, in brick on 2 storey bays; ashlar coped

skews; steeply pitched gable to W cottage. Pantiles.

RETAINING WALL: rubble coped rubble garden wall at rear.
