Description

Early 19th century, with later addition and alterations. Single storey cottage, lining roadside, comprised of 2 former, 4-bay cottages as 1; cottage to E doubles in size to S, post 1850. Whinstone rubble, whitewashed.

N ELEVATION: door in penultimate bay to right; door to neightbour; windows in remaining bays, some enlarged.

E ELEVATION: made into M-gable by addition to S; 2 large small-pane windows in gabled bay to left; wide door inserted in gabled bay to right. Flat-roofed addition to rear. Diamond-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows to N in timber to house, in metal to workshop. Graded grey slates. Ridge stacks, sandstone ridges and end stack to W. cast-iron gutters.

One of the small group of cottages of which the village of Glasserton is comprised, each linked to its neighbour by some common feature, suggesting they were taken in hand in the mid to later 19th century. Former Item No 5.
