18th century (No 11 dated 1765); renovated late 20th century. 2-storey, 6-bay (above ground) row of houses. Coursed rubble with stone margins. Relieving arches.
SE (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: 3 bays to right of centre with door and flanking windows to ground, and regular fenestration above. Bays to left of centre with 2 doors flanking small centre window and windows to outer right and left at ground, 3 regularly disposed windows to 1st floor. All doors of boarded timber.
SW ELEVATION: asymmetrical fenestration in M-gable with 2 windows to ground (relieving arch over blinded window to centre) and 3 windows to 1st floor (centre with relieving arch), and 2 tiny windows in right gablehead.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: recessed bays to left with 3 windows to each floor and door to outer left; advanced bays to right with door and 2 windows to left of centre and further door and window to right at ground, 4 regularly disposed windows at 1st floor and shouldered wallhead stack to centre.
12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows throughout. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks, that to centre SE raised in brick and that to left at SW brick; thackstanes to ridge stacks.
Property of Strathmore Estates (Holding) Ltd. At time of initial listing, No 9 had a lintel dated 1770, and Walker notes evidence of alteration to No 11 from 1765 date. Group with 7, 15-19 and 6-28 Main Street.
