Description

Circa 1920. Pink sandstone ashlar 1st World War
Memorial. Sited in canted recess of Parish Church
boundary wall, on sandstone base. Square plinth,
inscribed "Their Name Liveth for Evermore", bearing
pedestal with recessed panel and further inscription.
Tapering panel above with carved ribbon dated 1914-1918,
and ogee inset bearing shield of Scottish lion. Cross
finial.

Listed category C(S) for its relation to the church

boundary walls and consequently prominent position.

Possibly by Dr James Richardson who restored the Rood Well

nearby to E, in 1904, and who designed North Berwick's

War Memorial in 1921.
