Picturesque 2-storey cottage orne built for Drumlanrig
estate's gardener. Windows mostly mullioned and transom,
various roof levels, advanced gables with deeply projecting
eaves supported on brackets, decorative barge boards with
pendants; open verandah facing east. East elevation advanced
gable left has canted ground floor window corbelled above to
square (inner north gable similarly treated); verandah with
gabled outer bay (above steps) has 3 basket-arched bays with
strapwork patterned parapet; 2 dormers above. Blind doorway
in dummy porch to south. Wall-head or axial stacks, mostly
with grouped diamond flues. Low service wing adjoins west
wall and extends south (second wing now demolished).
