Description

Later 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay cottage. Pebble-dashed. Rendered margins. Jerkin-headed to E and W. Deep eaves. Substantial piended addition to N.

S ELEVATION: round-headed window at centre (probably original door), in gabled bay, with brackets and kingpost detail. Windows in outer bays.

E ELEVATION: addition to right; 2 windows to right of blank cottage gable.

W ELEVATION: window to right of cottage gable. Addition recessed to left; door to right and window to left and centre.

N ELEVATION: blank.

Modern glazing with mock astragals.

Decorative wrought-iron finials to E and W, and to gabled bay to S. Purple slates.

Statement of Interest

Maple Cottage is now shown on the OS Map of 1849-50. Maple Cottage was the office for the Saw Mills, originally situated to the N. It was converted into a dwelling circa 12 years ago.
