A good surviving example of early 19th century building in the narrow Cathcart Street, which provided access from Sandgate to the New Church in Fort Street (see separate list description). Of particular note is the exposed sandstone rubble in the largely painted render dominated street and the block-pedimented doorpiece to No 14. Continuous ground floor band course, fenestration line, cornice and blocking course with Nos 16 and 18, and 20 Cathcart Street (see separate list descriptions).
