Description

Early 19th century, remodelled at 1st floor mid 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay shop, with modern fittings at ground floor. Painted ashlar. Band course dividing ground and 1st floor; corniced band course dividing 1st and 2nd floors; cornice; blocking course. Round-arched, keyblocked windows at 1st floor; banded rustication below springing line; architraved windows at 2nd floor.

NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrance to shop at ground floor; 2-leaf glazed timber door; letterbox fanlight; flanking shop windows; regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows to upper storeys. Grey slate roof; stone skews; coped brick stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Nos 85-95 (Odd Nos) form a terrace of early 19th century tenements, with individuality provided by differing treatments to the window surrounds. Continuous cornice and roofline with Nos 89 and 91, 93 and 95 (see separate list descriptions).
