A view from the Titan Crane prior to the 2012 renovations and demolition of the Slipper Baths

Uploader's Comments

This view from the Titan Crane prior to the 2012 renovations and demolition of the Slipper Baths shows:
North / west corner - the tower
Behind it are the stone front, but generally red brick double storey buildings of the main town hall building. Greater Hall with arched windows towards us / lesser hall and offices between. The council chamber to the right with a brick chimney adjoining it.
To the far right is a tenement building on the corner not part of this complex.
To the right forward of the tenements is a modern green tiled block, an extension of the court facilities.
Further towards the viewer is the rectangular two storey block of the Slipper Baths in Bruce Street separately listed (with the main baths) and now demolished except for the facade creating space for new facilities facing a small garden.
Nearest the viewer is the vaulted lead roof of the main baths of the Bruce Street Baths sections.
To the left and this side of the Greater Hall is the old Police Station block and behind it various service buildings.

The great open space emphasises the demise of the ship building industry here. The Titan Crane from which this picture was taken is one of the last vestiges of that era.
