Description

Dated 1885, 4-storey simple Scots Baronial tenement on
corner site with turret corbelled out at 2nd floor.
Coursed rubble with ashlar details.
ELEVATION TO HILLTOWN: 3-bay, right bay stepped-up with
slope. Ground floor shop front altered except cornice.
Upper floors centre bipartite and flanking single windows
with roll-moulded arrises, segmental arched at 2nd floor.
Continuous hood-moulds, stepped at 1st, segmental arched
at 2nd floors. Eaves cornice, crow-stepped gable and
party-wall with rubble ridge stacks, slate roofs.
Angled corner bay slightly recessed ground floor shop
entrance, 3-light windows above, corbelled oriel bows at
2nd and 3rd floors. Conical slate turret with corbel table
below cornice and wrought-iron finial.
ELEVATION TO STIRLING STREET: 6 bay in similar style to
Hilltown but all windows single-light. Ground floor 2
stair doors with flanking windows, opening at right
stepped up in 1st and 2nd floors, continuous level at
3rd. Crow-stepped wallhead stacks over 2nd and 4th bays,
single hood moulds enclosing date and thistle features at
3rd floor windows below stacks. Ridge stacks and slate
roofs. Plain rears.
Sash and case windows with 4-pane glazing except 2-pane
windows at corner, 12-pane at rear.
