Description

Attributed to James MacLaren, circa 1863. Single storey, L-plan with addition, lodge. Tooled pink sandstone coursers, rubble at rear, painted dressings, grey slate roof. Unsympathetic uPVC windows, deep eaves, decorative bargeboards.

W ELEVATION: open porched at right re-entrant, door and fanlight, ornate cast-iron lamp and bracket at right angle; advanced gable at left with canted window.

S ELEVATION: gable at right with canted window.

N ELEVATION: window at left.

GATEPIERS AND WALL: 5 ornate panelled gatepiers wth modillioned pyramidal caps and quadrant; 5 further plainer pyramidal capped gatepiers; wall of pink sandstone courses with base course, saddleback coping and patera motif decoration.

Statement of Interest

75 Dundee Road was formerly the lodge to Balnacraig, 30 Albany Road (listed separately), this and the extensive piers is a major factor in its listing.
