Polished ashlar to ground and 1st floor, channelled at ground; droved ashlar at basement, and to recessed flanking extensions; rubble to side elevations and rear. Band course between ground level and floor, also between ground and 1st floor; cill course to 1st floor; cornice and blocking course; coping to flanking extensions.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical; 4 steps with original cast-iron handrails to deep-set panelled Edinburgh doors to outer bays; rectangular radial fanlights and windows at 1st floor above. Windows to each floor of intermediate bays. Single window to each of flanking extensions, with door to outer.

SW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen fully, 1994. Bays to centre, 1st floor, blank. Later lying-paned conservatory to No 9; map indicates extension to bay sat centre (seen on Sutter's map, 1856).

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Piend and platformed slate roof; monoroof to single storey extension to SE. Rendered and coped mutual at front and rear stacks, and as wallhead stacks to side elevations; sandstone and coped truncated wallhead stacks to extreme rear of side elevations.

INTERIORS: not seen, 1994.

BOUNDARY WALLS: droved ashlar with coping, formerly with railings to front.

Statement of Interest

No 9 has been stonecleaned. From Wood's map of 1824, these houses were the only ones not built on the SW side of West Brighton Crescent.
