Description

Circa 1875. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan villa, subdivided (1949). Squared and snecked rubble; finely stugged and coursed ashlar with polished dressings at E (entrance) elevation. Base and eaves courses; quoin strips; bracketed cornice; windows with raised surrounds and chamfered arrises, segmental-arched at 1st floor.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central deep-set panelled door; segmental plate glass fanlight; architraved surround; pilastered doorpiece with carved capitals and consoles supporting a dentilled segmental broken pediment. Corniced tripartite window flanking to left at ground floor; single windows at centre and flanking to left at 1st floor; full-height canted bay with dividing cornice flanking to right.

N AND S ELEVATIONS: 2 windows at ground floor; 1 window at 1st floor; garage (1923) adjoining to S.

W ELEVATION: former stair window at centre; regular forestration. Later main entrance.

Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; 19th century dormers to W and S; lead flashing; moulded eaves guttering, supported to N, S and W by wrought-iron brackets; 5 wallhgead stacks (4 shouldered, 3 rendered); mainly octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1990.

BOUNDARY WALL: high squared and coursed rubble wall to Hatton Place.
