Description

Dated 1848 (datestone in porch pediment). Single storey, with raised basement and later attic, 3-bay symmetrical rectangular-plan villa. Sandstone rubble; stugged ashlar and droved dressings at E (entrance) elevation. Raised band course dividing basement; blocking course.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central broken pedimented porch with squared detached piers; boarded soffit; stone steps to panelled door; plate glass fanlight. Single windows flanking left and right at basement and ground floors; single canted dormer windows flanking left and right.

S AND N ELEVATIONS: window at ground floor with decorative iron guard.

12-pane sash and case windows; additional inner glazing.

Grey slate double-pitched roof; ashlar coped gables; end stacks with moulded octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1990.

Pedestrian gateway to S; garage (1827) to N; further addition at rear of garage; low retaining wall to street minus original ironwork.
