Description

Circa 1880. 2-storey 3-bay subdivided villa with Italianate details, large brick extension and small outhouse to rear. Pink sandstone, ashlar front, course rubble to side, brick to rear extension. Rubble base course; basket-arched openings; ground floor openings corniced; chamfered reveals; bracketted cills; overhanging and bracketted eaves with dentilled cornice; ashlar mullions.

NE (FRONT) ELEVATION: advanced centre bay with round-arched roll-moulded doorway, nook-shafts with floreate capitals, panelled door and semi-circular plate glass fanlight, tall, narrow, round-arched window on return to right; window above. Bay to left with 2-storey quadripartite bowed window with dividing cornice and conical roof. Bipartite windows to right bay with bracketted cills and corbelled cornice at ground floor.

SW (REAR) ELEVATION: large 2-storey brick extension.

NW ELEVATION: 2 windows to centre.

Single storey outhouse with piended roof and exposed rafters. Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, some replacement windows. Piended and platformed slate roof with metal flashings. Moulded eaves gutter with embossed anthemion motifs.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: low rubble wall with saddleback coping, gatepiers with chamfered arrises and pyramidal coping.
