Uploader's Comments

The building, now used as a County Library, was the palace of the Grey Friars, dating mainly from the 14th century but with 17th-century additions. The first recorded mention of a church and convent here is a charter of doubtful authenticity of 1268; and it is also mentioned in 1384-5 and 1559.
