Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey 3-bay house with mutual gable to W. Square and snecked cream sandstone rubble, harled to side and rear elevations; ashlar margins.

N ELEVATION: 3-bay; corniced ashlar doorcase at centre with replacement panelled door; windows above and to both floors of left bay. To right, full-height canted timber bay, with cornice to both floors, sunken aprons and flat lead roof.

E ELEVATION: gabled with apex stack; windows to both floors to right. Single storey flat-roofed rear porch to left

S ELEVATION: central piend-roofed stair-tower; porch to right (see above).

12-pane timbers sash and case windows (4- and 2-pane to canted bay). Grey slates; ashlar skews; brick stacks. iron rooflights to rear. INTERIOR: not seen 1992.

Statement of Interest

The ground to the rear has been excavated to accommodate the house. Attached to Allerley Brae W cottage (see separate listing).
