Statement of Interest

B-Group with 8, 10 and 12 Clay Loan. Clay Loan breaks the old main street and climbs steeply to the west to Gallow Ha, the former place of public execution in Kirkwall. Originally the Common or South Loan, it takes its present name from its use as source of mortar for Kirkwall houses. Number 10 is of particular interest as it retrains its traditional Caithness stone-tiled roof.
