Statement of Interest

Part of a B-Group comprising: '1 and 2 St Leonard's Bank, Parklands Hotel'; '3 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls and Gatepiers'; '5 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls and Outbuilding'; '7 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls and Outbuildings'; '9 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls'; '4 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls'; '6 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls and Gatepiers' and '10 St Leonard's Bank, Including Boundary Walls' (see separate listings).

This villa with its distinctive Ionic columns to its principal elevation forms part of a row of fine large villas, which sit behind long sloping gardens running to the South Inch. This villa is significant part of the row and forms an important part of the streetscape here. The villa has been divided into flats.

The plots at St Leonard's Bank were laid out by the city architect W M Mackenzie in 1828 and the villas at Nos 3-10 had been erected by 1837. The area was owned by the Glover Incorporation, which was one of the largest landowners in Perth at the time.
