Description

Early 19th century, restored and internally reconstructed 1972-73. 3-storey, 3-bay. Ashlar front with harled and whitewashed E gable. Base course, eaves band, cill band at 1st floor. Raised quoins.

N (BROAD STREET) ELEVATION: round-arched windows flanking centre doorway with round-arched fanlight. Regular fenestration above with 2 roof-lights.

E (JAIL WYND) ELEVATION: modern projecting round 3-storey stair tower to left of centre; entrance with fanlight at ground in N face, window above, entrance in E face, 2 windows in S face at 1st and 2nd floors. with small window at top left.

Window at ground to right, small window at 3rd floor to right of centre.

Timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing, 8-pane glazing at ground. Broad stacks at E and W gables. Graded grey slates.

Statement of Interest

A narrow, dignified example of good town house design in the early 19th century.
