Description

Circa 1900. Pedestal sundial after earlier 18th century sundial at Colonsay House, comprised of ashlar baluster-shaft, with gadrooned lower section and moulded base, set on plinth, with neck moulding and octagonal table head bearing copper dial and gnomon.

Statement of Interest

Set at centre of entrance path to Head Gardener?s House, which, with the neighbouring fountain, is listed separately. The Colonsay House sundial is illustrated in MacGibbon and Ross. Part of the A Group comprised of the complex of buildings at Buxley.
