Description

Late 19th century. Single storey, 4-bay former gatelodge and tollhouse. Cream sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings; lugged and tabbed architraves; contrasting long and short quoins.

W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: advanced, gabled bay to penultimate left with doorway to S and single windows to N and W returns; single windows in bays to outer left and right.

Grey slate piended roof; coped wallhead stacks.

Statement of Interest

Built as south lodge to Prestonfield House (see separate list entry), following demolition of Clearburn House and lodge. Formerly used as the gate lodge to the Morgan recreation ground situated directly to the E; both the recreation ground and the lodge are now derelict (1995).
