Description

Mid 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay lodge with decorative pierced timber bargeboards; later flat-roofed additions at rear and side. Coursed yellow sandstone rubble; polished long and short surrounds to openings; long and short quoins; base course; overhanging eaves; stop-chamfered openings.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central bay with boarded timber door at ground beneath projecting gabled timber porch comprising detached square pilasters to front and rear, segmental-arched openings to S, E and W, timber boarding. Tripartite window to left of entry; bipartite window to right; stone mullions. Early 21st C timber glazed conservatory to W gable.

W (SIDE) ELEVATION: decorative eaves beneath gable in bay to outer right; single window in bay to outer left. Later flat-roofed extension to left.

Timber casement windows; Graded grey slate roof; coursed yellow sandstone ridge stacks to E and W comprising stone coping; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1996.

Statement of Interest

Despite later additions, the timber carving beneath eaves, stop- chamfered openings and unusual doorpiece give this property a degree of architectural significance. Gatelodge to former Inveralmond House (demolished).
