Description

Probably early 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay rubble house sited on land between Whiteadder and Blackadder Waters, W of convergence. Rubble. Single window to centre of E elevation; entrance and flanking windows to W elevation. Pantiled roof with rubble skews and advanced chimney breast to N elevation.

Statement of Interest

This was used as the ferryman's house prior to the building of the bridges (the Blackadder and Allanton bridges, see separate listings). It must therefore pre-date these. It is a picturesque example of a vernacular cottage.
