Probably 1882. Single storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan gabled lodge on corner site with Tudor details, and later piend-roofed extension to rear, making L-plan arrangement. Harled with ashlar dressings, quoins.
W ELEVATION: gabled porch to centre with pointed arch canopy opening and trellised timber sides. Pointed arch window to each flanking bay. Blank end gables to N and S.
E ELEVATION: with piend-roofed addition to left.
Horizontal-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Kneelered skews to gables with coped stacks at apex, further stack to rear addition.
BOUNDARY WALLS AND FENCE: harled brick walls to E and S, painted timber picket fence to W.
No 38 was built before the neighbouring development, to serve as the gate lodge to 52 First Gardens, Hazelwood House, which is listed separately: it was designed to harmonise with the latter?s English Jacobean style.
