Description

Early 20th century. Single storey, 6 bay, rectangular plan goods office for the North British Railway; earlier brick weighbridge office adjoining to N. Brick and vertical timber boarding; overhanging eaves.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 6 panelled doors in outer bays, with 2-light window above door to left, and horizontal boarding above door to right. 4 pane fixed windows in central bays, with horizontal boarding to aprons, and 2-light windows above.

S ELEVATION: brick base course; vertical timber boarding; no openings.

N ELEVATION: brick; lower weighbridge office adjoining.

W ELEVATION: not seen 1997.

Grey slate roof; timber collars, kingposts, and finials to gables.

INTERIOR: vertical timber lining boards; plain timber cornice; gas lamps.

Statement of Interest

Relatively late, but intact, example of modular timber railway structure.
