Possibly 18th century in origin with later additions and alterations; converted to single property 20th century. Pair of 2-storey houses (3-bay to left, 4-bay to right) with gabled projections to front; further single storey and attic, gabled ancillary structure adjoined to outer left. Whitewashed harl; coursed, whitewashed render to right in part; painted dressings throughout. Quoins to right; plain margins and projecting cills throughout.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 3-bay block to left with exterior stair accessing boarded timber door centred at 1st floor; 4-pane fanlight; single window at ground to right; single window off-set to left above. 2-storey, gabled projection to left of centre with large, square-headed opening at ground (part-glazed); single window centred in gablehead; single window in lean-to timber addition to right; small window in lean-to addition to left; ancillary structure adjoined to outer left. 4-bay block to right with timber panelled door at ground off-set to right of centre; letterbox fanlight; single window aligned at 1st floor. Gabled projection off-set to left of centre with pilastered shop front at ground comprising 2-leaf timber panelled door to left; large bipartite window to right; continuous cornice; narrow window centred in gablehead. Single windows at both floors recessed to outer left and right.
4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows; small rooflights. Grey slate roofs; stone-coped skews. Brick-built ridge and apex stacks; various circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
ANCILLARY STRUCTURE: whitewashed harl. S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: gable end with boarded timber garage door at ground off-set to left of centre; boarded opening centred above. Grey slate roof. INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
BOUNDARY WALLS, RAILINGS AND GATE: low, coped, whitewashed wall enclosing site to right; spearheaded iron railings above; spearheaded pedestrian gate.
An interesting, well-detailed range fronting Reston's Main Street, now a single property (1999). Said to have housed a bakehouse in part at one time. Neither the shop nor the bakehouse retain their original use, but the character remains and contributes significantly to Reston.
