Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan house forming part of terrace. Coursed rubble, double-height moulded eaves course; rough irregular rybats; flush margins, cills and lintels.

SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: replacement door to centre, flush margins, replacement step; single windows flanking; regular 3-bay fenestration to 1st floor; plain stone skews to left gable, squared skewputt; rendered stack, thin neck cope, replacement terracotta cans.

NW ELEVATION: gable end; modern wrought-iron gate.

NE (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen, 2000.

SE ELEVATION: adjoining higher 2-storey house, no skews, mutual square pebble-dashed stack.

Replacement 2-pane stained timber sash and case windows. Piended slate roof swept eaves, zinc ridging. Painted cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 2000 although rear fenestration mirrors front elevation on the left.

Statement of Interest

This house has been remodelled. A door probably existed to the right of the front elevation, this has been in-filled and the property re-pointed. The original glazing plan has been lost, although the relatively small window apertures remain. The roof has been replaced in two stages, a smaller portion being visible to the left. The terrace of houses is an imposing form on the main street, where the majority of properties are converted single storey cottages.
