Circa 1900. 3-storey, 4-bay public house with Scots Baronial detail. Squared and snecked rubble with red sandstone ashlar dressings; snecked rubble to side. Ground floor cornice and eaves course. Corbels and crowsteps. Stone mullions and chamfered reveals.
S (HIGH STREET ELEVATION: gable to street with altered canted glass window below painted name board at centre, window to each floor above (that to 1st floor corniced), corbel course at eaves and semicircular pediment breaking into thistle-finialled crowstepped gable; chamfered flanking angles each with 2-leaf panelled timber door and corbelled to canted tripartite at each floor above giving way to finialled conical roof. Return to left with altered window at ground right and door in re-entrant angle, 2 windows to each floor above, and bipartite window to each floor of recessed face at outer left.
E (MITCHELL STREET) ELEVATION: ground floor with 3 irregularly-disposed windows and door with deep fanlight to outer right, 2 windows to each floor above with large stair window to outer right, wallhead stack to left and further stack breaking eaves to centre.
2-, 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns to ground and 1st floor outer left S; margined stair window; modern glazing elsewhere. Grey slates, fishscale pattern to conical towers. Coped squared rubble stacks with full-complement of cans; ashlar-coped skews.
INTERIOR: timber-panelled bar and timber fire surround with over mirror.
