Description

1859. Shallow, circular, granite basin with rope moulded base course and chevroned rim, featuring cast-iron, fountain centrepiece of fluted base bearing shallow decorative bowl with spouts at rim, and crowned by putto statue on circular base carrying further, gadrooned basin.

Statement of Interest

A Group with Balmoral Castle, Chamois Deer Statue, Roe Deer Statue, Shell Drinking Fountain in Sunken Garden and the Statue of Florentine Boar.

The Archives refer to the building of a dwarf wall and fountain basin in front of the tower in 1859. Repaired by Charles Henshaw. Part of the critical foreground of the castle.
