Description

Mid 19th century. Single storey, 5-bay pair of cottages with projecting bracketed eaves. Whinstone and sandstone rubble with pink sandstone margins and dressings.

The principal southeast elevation has 5 bays. The cottage to the left has a central door with flanking windows. The cottage to the right has a window and door to the outer right.

Timber diamond-paned casement windows. Graded grey slate piended roof with lead flashings. A pair of octagonal sandstone chimney stacks with octagonal cans to each cottage.

There is a whinstone rubble retaining wall with terracotta saddleback coping to the front of the property.

Statement of Interest

The building is shown on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map, surveyed in 1860. The design is a variation on the type and material form used in other paired cottages in Luss.

Statutory address revised in 2016. Previously listed as 'Luss Village, Lochview and Pierhead with boundary wall'.
