A probably C17 timber framed house, altered in the early C19. The form with the central upper window suggests a once gabled front, but an earlier type of parallel with the street jettied front is also a possiblity. Church Street had some widening as part of the improvements associated with Priory Street and White Swan Court in c1837, but the north side appears to retain the historic street line. It is known that No. 10 does retain C17 fabric revealed during works in 1981.
Rendered and painted front on a timber framed building, chamfered rusticated quoins on either side, Welsh slate roof. Narrow three storey front possibly once jettied. Shopfront under builds the possible jetty. This has a 3-pane window with flanking house and shop doors with overlights, panelled pilasters, low stall-riser, projecting fascia. The first floor has a central paired probably mid C20 2-light casement with transom lights over. The upper floor has a central 3 over 6 pane sash window, with another small casement of similar type to top left. Rear elevation not seen.
The ground floor shows a timber framed first floor supported by C19 cast iron posts. Interior not available at resurvey apart from the shop premises. Said to have revealed timber framed features.
Included for its special architectural interest as a multi-period building and as part of the continuous run of historic buildings in Church Street.
