History

K6-type square, red kiosk of cast-iron construction to the standard design of Giles Gilver Scott, architect of London. Design introduced by GPO in 1936, this example probably installed after Second World War.

Exterior

Domes roof with 4 lunettes containing embossed crowns over red lettered opals and ventilation slits. Raised surrounds to sides and door with sidebar glazing to horizontal panels. Timber stiles to door, blank rear, moulded plinth; modernised telephone equipment.

Between telephone box and War Memorial a good cast-iron lamp standard, strapwork and crocus moulding, reeded shaft. Modern light fittings.
