We have done significant work to safeguard this building which we bought in 2001. Including sandblasting the Victoria paintwork on the beams and have the rotten oak replaced by new by specialist contractors who also built us new stone and oak extension. We wanted a good setting for the building and so planted extensive topiary at the front and have created extensive formal borders and paths using stone we dug from around the garden. We also bought back 20 acres sold 100 years earlier and have created a meadow on 7 of it which is part of a national scheme to this in every county. Our gardens were shortlisted for national awards by the English Garden magazine in 2019 for Best British Garden and Gardeners World Garden for Britain's Best Garden. In June 2022 we will the key garden featured in an article in Country Life. We open the garden under the National Garden Scheme and have raised £20k over the 5 years. Some five thousand people have thus seen the house.
