A Grade II Listed Building in Adamsdown, Cardiff

St James the Great, Newport Rd Cardiff, Aug 2013 detail

Uploader's Comments

Carvings of two angels in the spandrel positions (the pair of roughly triangular shapes created by an arch within a rectangle) above a door in the west porch of St James the Great. THe angels are swinging sensers on chains, part of Catholic ritual - compositionally the arcs of each chain echo the curves of the wing and the arm of each angel, giving a harmonious effect.
