History

The pool, first referred to as a 'good sized pond' in 1860, was remodelled and the statue erected as part of the transformation of the old kitchen garden into a 'knot' garden for Duncan Alves during the 1920s.

Exterior

Pool and statue. Circular pool with concrete lining and surround, about 3m in diameter, containing in the centre a fountain and slightly small than life-size stone figure of Pan on a square plinth.

Reasons for Listing

Included as an integral architectural feature of the walled 'knot' garden created during the 1920s, an important period in the development of the gardens and grounds at Bryn Bras Castle.
