Early C19 exterior to a probably C18 house but little evidence is now visible. It is possible that it was originally of one build with No 15. There is a pair of gabled houses in the position of Nos 15 and 17 shown on John Speed's plan of 1610 and it is possible that some fabric may remain from these. It is suggested by the owner that the house dates from 1740.
The house has a rendered front with a plain Welsh slate roof. Two storeys with a single bay. On ground floor there is a sash window with 6 over 6 panes to right hand and a round-headed doorway to left hand, panelled door, fanlight with radiating bars. On first floor there is a single 6 over 6 pane sash window. Brick stack to left gable. Rear elevation not seen, but the house has been extended beyond the historic rear wall.
Only the ground floor was seen at resurvey, but this lacks historic features.
Included as a largely C18 house and for its group value with the other listed buildings around The Cathedral Green.
