History

Entrance gatehouse to the parish cemetery, probably of 1877 when the graveyard was opened on ground given by Bishop Basil Jones of Gwynfryn. Added late C19 parallel building not of special interest. William Basil Jones of Gwynfryn, (1822-97) Bishop of St Davids, is buried in graveyard.

Exterior

Rubble stone gatehouse with slate roof, dressed stone quoins and segmental-pointed chamfered opening with dressed stone voussoirs and jambs, and roundel above also with dressed stone surround. Rough rubble to rear with segmental-pointed arch.
Wrought iron double gates to front with hinged smaller section within right hand gate. Widely spaced square-section uprights with plain pointed ends above top bars, dogbars below between with flattened diamond-headed finials with spiral scrolls over mid-rail, these latter under inverted-V bars above up to top rail with points above top-rail matching those of main uprights.

Reasons for Listing

Included as an unusual lych-gate style entry, with good iron gates probably of local manufacture.
