Almshouse group. Circa 1912 by Sir Ernest George. Red brick with sandstone quoins
and dressings , hipped plain tiled roofs with tall panelled central stacks. 3 blocks
around a square with arches angled across , joining the blocks at the corners. 1
storey, 4 windows with glazing bar sash window and outer entrance arches in stone
surrouns with impost blocks and keystones.
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores for thrifty
old folk and was laid out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson, employing leading
architects of the day.
