Almshouse row. Circa 1912 possibly by Ernest Newton. Red brick with raised quoins
and moulded cornice to plain tiled, hipped roof with 2 panelled ridge stacks and
one panelled end stack to left. Single storey with casement windows in 1st, 4th,
5th, 8th and 9th bays. 1 single arched entrance at extreme right, pointed arched
entrances in 2nd and 3rd bays and 6th and 7th bays .
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores for thrifty
old folk and was laid out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson, employing leading
architects of the day.
