Almshouse group. Circa 1912 by Sir Ernest George. Red brick with brick rusticated
quoins and dressings, moulded brick cornice to hipped plain tiled roof. Tall panelled
stacks to centre. 3 blocks around a square with angled arches, joining the blocks
at the corners. 1 storey with 2 windows, casements and outer entrance arches with
rusticated jambs.
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores and was laid
out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson , employing leading architects of the day.
