Description


SU 16 NW WEST OVERTON VILLAGE CENTRE (north side) 9/151 West Overton House II Rectory, now house. Late C18. Sarsen, faced with rendered brickwork. Slate roof. Central block of 3 bays, 2 storeys and attics, with central hall with stair, with lower extension to east for dining room, now kitchen, and further extended after 1860 by 2 bays. One bay extension of 2 storeys to west, 1982. Central bay has canted bay on ground floor and large glazed C19 tiled porch covering central margin-glazed door. Twelve-paned sashes to first floor with shutters and a central oculus. Stone lintels. Parapet to north front covers two paned dormers, and two similar to rear within mansard roof. Gable stacks. Outbuilding on south side now a drawing room with a fine Carrara marble imported Italian fireplace.
