Description

SD 82 SE BACUP CUTLER LANE

7/28 Barn c.20 metres west of
Fairwall Farmhouse
-
GV II

Barn, dated 1672 on lintel of doorway, but possibly earlier and altered.
Sandstone rubble, slobbered, stone slate roof. Three (or 4) bays,
the 1st bay set back at front and rear (possibly an addition), with
later lean-to addition to the front of this, and altered addition at
right end. Various openings of little interest except doorway to
front which has lintel with raised lettering "1672 IHAHRH". Interior
altered but includes one full cruck truss raised on high stone base,
with collar yoke, a tie beam (of light scantling and poor quality)
fixed just above housings for earlier tie beam.
