Farmhouse, early C18, altered and partly remodelled c.1800; now house. Coursed sandstone rubble, stone slate roof on 2 levels, with gable chimneys to the higher and a ridge chimney on the lower. Three bays and originally all 2 storeys, the 1st bay altered and remodelled to make double depth and 3 storeys (tusking to inner end of 2nd floor walls indicating uncompleted plan to raise the other parts also). Original part has single-storey gabled porch in centre, a recessed 4-light stone mullion window with a thin hoodmould to the left, a 3-light flush mullion window above this, and altered window; on both floors to the right, that at ground floor probably originally 4 lights now with one mullion in the centre and the date 1743 recently inscribed on the window head above it. Altered 1st bay to left has doorway with plain surround, a 3-light casement to the left, 2 windows at 1st floor (the 1st of 2 lights with a flush mullion, the other in the top of a blocked opening which appears to have been a loading door), and a stepped triple-light window at 2nd window. Right return wall has 3 recently inserted windows. Interior altered. Unusual example of uncompleted conversion of farmhouse for early industrial purposes.
