red dressings, some now painted over, and some stone. Two storeys; symmetrical
composition. Ground floor with an arcade of blue brick piers on stone bases,
3 broad stilted segmental arches alternating with 4 narrow round arches; windows
and doors inserted asymmetrically. The cornices of the capitals form a quasi-
string course with the transoms and doorframes. A deep entablature with
modillion cornice forms a sill to the 8 windows of the first floor; 4 narrow
round-arched in the centre flanked on either side of 2 broad 4-centred and 2 more
narrow round-arched. Medallions in the spandrels. Moulded stone stringcourse
marks off the frieze under the main modillion cornice. Decorative parapet with
a blind balustrade pattern of grey brick uprights and red brick infill panels.
