House. 1806-9 by William Wilkins (as a personal speculation),
side wing raised in mid C19. Ware white brick and slate hipped
roofs of low pitch as employed in building the College. 3-storey
tower 2-windows wide contains main accommodation with stair in
rear right hand corner. Entrance into E wing set back on right
originally of 2 storeys but raised to same height as tower in mid
C19. Gauges flat arches and stone sills to recessed sash
windows, with 6/6 panes but 3/3 on top floor. Triple sash
windows to E wing, the top one rising above eaves. Wide
plastered overhang to roof. Wide 4-panel door with fanlight and
flat arch. Single storey service wing set back on left. Part of
a group with former 4-cottage terraces to E and W also built by
Wilkins. (Matthews (1959) 159-60).
