5/28 The White House
GV II
House. Probably late C17, remodelled mid-C19. Timber-framed with rendered
infill, stuccoed to front and sides with raised hipped slate roof and external
rubble chimney at left end with C19 brick stack. Two storeys. Three bays.
Windows are all single-hung 9-pane Sashes with moulded architraves; the ground
floor windows are of larger size. Central entrance has a C19 gabled timber
porch on moulded posts and with scalloped bargeboards and moulded finial.
Within is a half-glazed door. There is a rear service wing to the right of
the building, also timber-framed. Interior: rear wall-frame and cross-frames
visible. The building is situated to the north of Tan-y-bryn (qv) and south-
west of the Market Cross (qv) and Well Cottage (qv). Included for group value.
