13/1 The Old Rectory
GV II
Rectory now private house. C16, late C17, C19. Timber-frame core encased in
brick, with colourwashed brick and flint and brick additions. C16 timber-frame
building of 2 bays and cross wing at right. To right late C17 block added and
to left end C19 flint and brick service wing attached. Front of late C17 block
on right end, 2 storey and attic, 3 window range. In centre projecting 1½ storey
stuccoed lean-to, with 2 small low C19 sashes, and above at right, C19 flush
framed camber-headed 16-pane sash. Attached to left side of lean-to and front
of building, C18 stack, with to right of it, on each floor, a tall C18 single
light window. At right end on each floor C19 camber headed tripartite sashes.
Dentilled cornice and projecting eaves to hipped mansard roof. 2 dormers, to
right side of roof, with sloping roofs, from change of slope of roof. Gable stack
on right hip. C16 part is now single room on ground floor with C17 panelling.
