Farmhouse. Late C16 or C17, probably incorporating the walls of a medieval house.
Rendered stone or cob. Tiled roof, gabled at each end. 2-storeyed with single-
storeyed lean-to's (probably later additions) at rear. Main range has 3-room and
through-passage original plan, containing kitchen, hall and parlour in ground
storey. Stacks at each gable and in rear of wall of hall. Stair turret behind
kitchen. 4-window front with doorway left of centre, the front wall rebuilt from
here leftwards. The 2 ground-storey windows right of doorway and the right-hand
second-storey window have wooden ovolo-moulded mullions, the window next to the
doorway being of 4 lights, the others of 3 lights. (Remaining windows are C19 wood
casements). Right-hand gable has stack with tapered head. Also a wood ovolo-
moulded mullioned window of 2 lights in each storey. The smaller ground-storey
window (set in an earlier opening) has vertical ferrumenta in centre of each light
and leaded diamond-shaped glazing. Left-hand gable has projecting chimney-breast
with rectangular oven adjacent to it. Chamfered ceiling-beams in all 3 ground-
storey rooms, those in parlour carved with raised floral and other motifs. Roof
rebuilt in C20, but piece of medieval arch-braced collar-beam survives (re-used) in
hall. Probably fireplaces and other internal features concealed under plaster.
